Chaos erupted on the M6 northbound this afternoon after a one-vehicle crash caused significant disruption. The incident occurred at 3.13pm, leaving drivers stuck in heavy traffic.
Police confirmed that a single vehicle overturned and crashed into an embankment on the hard shoulder. The driver is currently being treated for injuries, which are not life-threatening.
While the southbound lanes have reopened, two northbound lanes remain closed, resulting in severe gridlock for motorists.
National Highways North West described the crash as a “serious collision” and has halted all traffic in both directions between junction 32 (M55) and junction 33 (Hampson).
They stated, “We’re reporting delays on approach of at least 30 minutes above usual journey times both ways. We’ll keep you updated.”
Drivers are advised to expect massive delays and heavy traffic northbound on the M6. Although southbound traffic is clearer, caution is advised near the crash site.
Emergency crews remain on scene managing the situation. Motorists are urged to find alternative routes and stay tuned for the latest updates.
