Six men have been charged in connection with a National Crime Agency (NCA) investigation after more than half a tonne of cannabis was seized at Birmingham Airport.
The arrests were made in October 2024 and involved Kyle Gribben, Zaeon Hunter, Lashan Walker, all aged 26, James Turner and Torian Robinson, both 25, and 22-year-old Devonte Newman.
NCA officers, supported by Bedfordshire Police, conducted raids on properties in Marsh Farm, Luton, and Finchley, north London.
The six men are accused of orchestrating attempts to import cannabis between 1 June and 9 August 2024. This includes the significant seizure made on 9 August at Birmingham Airport.
On that same day, 11 passengers arriving from Thailand via Paris Charles de Gaulle were also arrested and charged in relation to the drugs operation.
The cannabis confiscated is estimated to have a street value of approximately £13.8 million across the UK.
All six men appeared at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on 10 April and were subsequently released on bail. Their next hearing is scheduled for 8 May at Birmingham Crown Court.
