A Wokingham man has been sentenced to more than four years in prison following a brutal glass attack at a local pub that left a young man seriously injured.
Gary Jordan, aged 50, of Windmill Avenue, received a 4 years and 6 months prison sentence at Reading Crown Court on Thursday, 12 March 2026. The sentence followed a four-day trial where a jury found him guilty of wounding with intent.
The violent assault happened just before midnight on 30 September 2023 outside a pub on Peach Street. Jordan smashed a glass into the face of a man in his twenties, causing severe injuries that required urgent medical attention.
Specialist Investigator Pippa Sharman commented on the case, saying, “This was a shocking and entirely unacceptable act of violence, which left the victim with significant injuries. I want to thank the many members of the public who came forward in this investigation, especially those who gave evidence at court, and the courage of the victim to continue with this investigation.”
She added, “This was an unnecessary incident which has caused such harm to those involved. Thames Valley Police remains committed to protecting the public and ensuring violent offenders are brought to justice.”
Jordan was arrested on 7 October 2023 and charged on 20 July 2024 following a thorough investigation by Thames Valley Police.
