Two West Yorkshire drug dealers have been sentenced following a major drug bust involving illegal substances valued at up to £1.5 million.
Uzair Hamid, aged 30, from Huddersfield, was handed a 7½-year prison sentence at Leeds Crown Court. Hamid was convicted of supplying ketamine and cannabis, conspiring to supply cocaine, and handling Class B drugs. Authorities estimated that Hamid profited between £511,000 and £1.46 million from selling ketamine.
Kai Helliwell, 25, from Elland, also appeared at Leeds Crown Court where he received a three-year sentence. Helliwell was found guilty of possession and conspiracy to supply cocaine. The cocaine seized in connection with his case was valued between £5,396 and £9,516.
Detectives from the Precision organised crime unit described the convictions as a significant victory against drug crime. They stated, “These convictions mark a big win for law enforcement. Drugs like these fuel addiction and serious crime right across the region.”
Both men admitted to multiple offences related to drug dealing throughout 2025. Their sentences were imposed on Thursday 15 January, highlighting a strong crackdown on dangerous drug dealers operating in West Yorkshire.
