Police are investigating a fatal collision on Thornton Road in Bradford that occurred this morning, resulting in the death of a 71-year-old woman.
Officers responded to reports of a serious crash involving a taxi at 10:17am on April 11. Despite emergency medical treatment at the scene, the elderly woman was pronounced dead.
The taxi involved was a grey Toyota Prius driven by a 72-year-old man. He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. The driver sustained injuries but they are not believed to be life-threatening and he was taken to hospital for treatment.
Thornton Road remains closed this afternoon as trauma and accident investigators continue their inquiries. The Major Collision Enquiry team is urgently seeking anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward and assist with the investigation.
