A man has been sentenced to prison after threatening another individual with a chainsaw in Olton following a dog attack incident.
The incident began on 28 May last year when a dog walker near Gospel Lane and Brookvale Road witnessed one of his dogs being attacked. The situation quickly escalated, involving Lewis Whitsey, who was nearby at the time.
Whitsey intervened in the argument and attempted to attack the dog owner. After initially leaving the scene, he returned wielding a chainsaw, threatening the victim with a terrifying assault. Fortunately, the chainsaw malfunctioned and stopped working, allowing the victim to escape unharmed.
Solihull CID responded promptly and located Whitsey within days. The 48-year-old man from Gospel Lane, Olton, was arrested and charged with wounding.
Whitsey pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced last Tuesday, 20 January, to two years and two months in prison. West Midlands Police praised the swift police action that prevented what could have been a deadly attack.
