A horror crash involving two lorries on the M25 near Dartford Tunnel has sparked chaos. One truck partly flipped and ended up leaning against the other, blocking lanes and causing gridlock.
The smash happened this afternoon on the anti-clockwise M25 at junction 30. National Highways confirmed the crash left one lorry slumped against its rival, blocking both the hard shoulder and inside lane.
“Two lanes (of three) are closed due to a collision involving two lorries,” the agency said. “Heavy damage and full recovery needed.”
With only one lane open, traffic snarls stretch all the way back to junction 2, trapping drivers for over an hour. National Highways warned commuters to brace for lengthy delays through Kent and the Dartford Tunnel, especially during rush hour.
Adding to the disruption, another crash earlier today between junctions 6 (Godstone) and 5 (Sevenoaks) shut two lanes and a slip road. This second crash piled more misery onto an already gridlocked motorway.
Motorists are urged to plan ahead and allow plenty of extra time while emergency crews work to clear the wreckage.
