Police in Dover have intensified efforts to tackle a rise in motorbike and moped thefts reported throughout the town between January and May 2026. Incidents have been recorded in areas including St Radigund’s, Whitfield, and Buckland, with offenders also observed riding mopeds without number plates and engaging in antisocial behaviour.
Authorities have responded by increasing high-visibility patrols and conducting proactive vehicle stops in key locations. These measures aim to disrupt theft activities and antisocial riding. Local partnerships are also being engaged to address these issues more effectively.
Several arrests have been made in connection with these crimes. Notably, three boys aged between 14 and 17 have been charged over the theft of a Honda moped and a Kawasaki motorbike. They remain on bail with conditions as they await their hearing at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court.
Chief Inspector Liz Cokayne-Delves commented on the situation, stating: “We understand the distress theft causes to owners and the community. We are committed to using robust enforcement and prosecution where necessary.” She encouraged residents to report any suspicious activity promptly to support police investigations.
