A brutal assault in central London has resulted in Javier De Brito Jardim being sentenced to four and a half years in prison. The 36-year-old attacked his former colleague with a metal bar, causing a serious skull fracture in a violent incident.
In the early hours of 1 December 2024, CCTV footage captured Jardim wrapping himself in a white sheet on Cannon Street. He appeared to use this disguise in an attempt to move unnoticed through the streets of the City of London. Jardim then proceeded to Poultry, where his victim was employed.
Jardim waited outside the workplace before launching a violent attack. He struck the victim multiple times with an iron bar and followed up with punches and kicks. The victim managed to escape and contact the police. Medical scans later confirmed a fractured skull and brain bleeding, necessitating emergency surgery.
The victim informed officers that the assault was motivated by a workplace dispute. Jardim had been drinking during work hours and had received a warning several weeks prior. He believed the victim had reported his behaviour to supervisors, which triggered the violent attack.
