Daniel Blake, 41, of Water Street, St Helens, has been sentenced to five years in prison after police found a loaded Glock pistol in his vehicle. The Liverpool Crown Court handed down the sentence on Friday, March 20.
The investigation began on Sunday, January 19, when officers stopped a black Range Rover in St Helens. Inside the vehicle, police discovered drugs, large amounts of cash, a taser, and bladed weapons. Blake was arrested on suspicion of drug and weapon offences but was initially released on bail.
Police conducted a follow-up search at Blake’s home and his blue BMW 3 Series. This search uncovered additional drugs, cash, weapons, and critically, a loaded Glock pistol complete with magazine and ammunition ready to fire. Blake was subsequently charged with firearm possession and holding criminal property. He later pleaded guilty to these charges.
Detective Inspector James Rotherham commented on the case, stating, “This sentencing shows how determined we are to rid our streets of firearms and disrupt serious organised crime. This weapon was capable of killing somebody and was thankfully taken off our streets by our officers. Blake’s conviction sends a clear message: we will arrest, charge, and prosecute anyone involved in serious crimes.”
