Three criminals have been sentenced to a combined 32 years in prison following their armed raid on a jewellers in Winchester that was swiftly foiled by Hampshire police officers.
The offenders, David George, 21, from Hatfield, Domingo Nsita, 29, from London, and Joshua Tiloye, 22, from Stevenage, all pleaded guilty to robbing Justice Jewellers on Parchment Street.
The raid took place on April 15, when the trio arrived in a white van. Tiloye and George exited the vehicle wearing motorcycle helmets and entered the shop just as the owner was opening up.
Armed with an imitation gun, they threatened the owner and stole thousands of pounds worth of valuables. However, Hampshire police responded quickly and arrived on the scene shortly after the incident began.
At Winchester Crown Court, all three men faced charges of robbery and possession of an imitation firearm. Sentencing was handed down as follows:
- David George: 10 years
- Domingo Nsita: 12 years
- Joshua Tiloye: 10 years
Each defendant also received an additional five-year sentence for carrying an imitation firearm, to run concurrently with their main sentences.
Hampshire police commended their rapid response, which prevented the robbery from progressing and ensured the offenders were brought to justice.
