Emergency crews responded swiftly to a serious incident on Portsmouth Road in Cosham, causing the area to be sealed off and prompting a rapid response from police and medical teams.
The section of Portsmouth Road extending to Hawthorn Crescent near Highbury College was quickly cordoned off by police officers, who remain on site managing the ongoing situation.
Just after 2.30pm on Thursday, 12 March, an air ambulance carrying a doctor and two advanced paramedics was dispatched to the scene. Following urgent treatment at the location, the patient was transported to hospital by road ambulance, with the air ambulance team accompanying them to provide continued care.
“Following treatment on scene, a patient was taken to hospital by road ambulance with the air ambulance crew travelling with the patient to continue their care,” confirmed a spokesperson.
Police locked down Portsmouth Road to Hawthorn Crescent as firefighters and air ambulance teams attended the scene. The patient was transported urgently to hospital.
Authorities have not yet released further details about the incident. Locals are advised to avoid the area while investigations and emergency operations continue.
