A courageous woman’s bravery has resulted in Barnsley man David Nistor being jailed for rape. The victim reported the brutal attack to police on the very same day in June 2025, bringing to light Nistor’s history of sexual violence.

Police acted swiftly, arresting Nistor the day he was identified. He remained silent during questioning and was kept in custody throughout the investigation and subsequent court hearings.

David Nistor, aged 26, initially denied all charges when he appeared at Sheffield Crown Court in July. The charges included seven counts of rape and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. However, in November, he pleaded guilty to the assault charge.

On 16 January, the jury found Nistor guilty of all seven rape charges. The judge sentenced him to 15 years and eight months in prison for his crimes.

Nistor, who resides on Heelis Street in Barnsley, now faces a lengthy prison term for his horrific offences.
