Oluwadamilola Ogunyankinnu, 27, of Enfield, has denied murdering 21-year-old film student Finbar Sullivan following a fatal stabbing on Primrose Hill last Tuesday.
Ogunyankinnu appeared in the dock at Stratford Magistrates’ Court in east London on Monday, where he was pictured for the first time. Raising his hands in the air, he told the court, “I didn’t kill anybody,” and insisted that the police “got the wrong person.”
He confirmed his identity but was not asked to enter a plea. Instead, he pleaded his innocence directly to the court.
District Judge Ashwinder Gill deemed the case too serious for the magistrates’ court and remanded Ogunyankinnu in custody. He is scheduled to appear next at the Old Bailey on Wednesday.
Detective Inspector Andy Griffin from Scotland Yard urged witnesses to come forward. He said, “We are following several lines of inquiry. This incident happened in a busy, public park. There may be many witnesses who can help us piece together what happened.”
He added, “Footage is circulating on social media around the time of the incident. We urge anyone with information, photos, or videos that could support the investigation to contact us urgently.”
