Three men have been sentenced to a total of 29 years behind bars after a rapid investigation by the Metropolitan Police into the horrific rape of a 14-year-old girl in London.
The trio were arrested and charged within just ten days of the victim reporting the crime. Their sentencing took place at Woolwich Crown Court on Friday, 10 April, following their conviction in January on multiple charges including rape, sexual assault, trafficking, and creating indecent images of the young victim.
Daryl German, 43, from Lewisham, received 15 years imprisonment plus 3 years extended licence for arranging travel for exploitation, three counts of rape, assault by penetration, and making indecent images.
Jordan Donely Wint, 31, also from Lewisham, was jailed for 6 years for rape and assault by penetration.
Deon Smith, 45, from Lewisham, was sentenced to 7 years for rape.
All three men are now registered on the sex offenders register for life.
On 27 June 2025, police were alerted to a rape at a home in New Cross. The victim, who was just 14 years old at the time, was quickly safeguarded as detectives launched a thorough investigation.
Thanks to relentless detective work and strong forensic and digital evidence, arrests were made by early July, with charges brought on the same day.
Detective Constable Jack Best, head of the investigation, praised the victim’s bravery, stating, “I extend my thanks to the victim, whose exceptional resilience and determination has proved crucial to the successful prosecution of three dangerous individuals. We’ve overhauled how we tackle rape, more than doubling charges since 2021. We’re committed to giving survivors confidence to come forward by improving support and working closely with charities and justice partners.”
Investigations revealed that German acted as the ringleader. He targeted the vulnerable girl walking alone in Catford, lured her to his flat, and raped her. He then involved Wint, who also assaulted her. Both men were aware that the girl was missing but did nothing to help her. German later sent explicit texts to Smith, who subsequently raped the terrified victim at his address.
Specially trained officers from the Metropolitan Police have supported the victim from the outset, playing a crucial role in the case. The Met is intensifying its efforts to combat child abuse across London by investing heavily in digital forensics, rapid analysis tools, and monitoring software to crack down on registered sex offenders.
These initiatives have resulted in three times more cases being solved last year and 134 additional suspects charged, demonstrating the Met’s commitment to keeping children safe.
