Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) London is investigating a stabbing attack that took place in Golders Green on 29 April. During the incident, two men were stabbed by a suspect who also attempted to stab police officers.
Armed officers and local police responded to emergency calls at 11:16am at Highfield Avenue. The attacker was tasered and arrested at the scene. The two victims, aged 76 and 34, were taken to hospital and remain in stable condition.
The suspect, a 45-year-old British man originally from Somalia, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. After being tasered, he was taken to hospital and has since been discharged. He is now in custody at a London police station.
Police are also investigating a related incident that occurred earlier on 29 April in Great Dover Street, SE1. The same suspect is believed to have been involved in a knife-related dispute with an occupant who sustained minor injuries. Despite immediate police searches, the suspect was not found at that time but was later arrested in Golders Green.
Authorities have confirmed that the Golders Green stabbing attack is being treated as a terrorist incident. Searches are ongoing at a South East London address linked to the suspect as detectives continue to connect the two events and further investigate.
