Fifteen fire engines and approximately 100 firefighters are currently tackling a large blaze that broke out this morning behind a kosher supermarket in Golders Green, north London.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) was alerted just before 7am and responded swiftly to the scene amid heavy smoke that has resulted in road closures and public safety warnings.
Emergency services dispatched crews from multiple stations including Finchley, Willesden, and West Hampstead, with equipment such as a 32-metre turntable ladder to assist in controlling the fire.
The LFB received 56 calls about the fire starting from 6.47am and coordinated a large-scale response to contain the flames.
Thick black smoke has been seen billowing from the building, prompting authorities to advise residents in the surrounding area to keep windows and doors shut for safety.
Several roads, including parts of Golders Green Road near Beverley Gardens, have been closed to allow firefighters safe access to the scene.
Video footage shows towering flames and dense smoke rising from the three-storey building, which houses the kosher supermarket on the ground floor with other premises above.
Firefighters and police are managing the scene, moving objects away from the fire to prevent further damage.
The London Fire Brigade has urged the public to avoid the area as crews continue working to extinguish the blaze.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown and remains under investigation.
