Long Fei Zheng, 38, of Vernham Road, was sentenced to five years and three months in prison at Winchester Crown Court yesterday. He pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
At 7.12am on Thursday, 9 September 2021, police were called to a stabbing incident on Andover Road in Winchester. The victim, a 38-year-old man, sustained multiple stab wounds to his head, thigh, back, shoulder, and wrist.
Ambulance crews rushed the victim to Southampton General Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery to save his life. Zheng was arrested later that same morning.
Detective Constable Jonathan Duggan said, “This was a shocking act of violence that could have had far worse consequences and easily have resulted in the death of a man. Fortunately, following emergency surgery, the victim survived the attack and is recovering. I hope this sentence sends out a clear message that violence of any kind will not be tolerated and we will bring offenders to justice.”
Zheng’s jail term highlights the commitment of Winchester authorities to impose tough punishments on violent criminals.
