A young father was stabbed multiple times in a shocking attack at a children’s play area in Maidstone. Paramedics and air ambulance doctors rushed to treat him after the brutal assault.
The 20-something dad was attacked on Sunday evening at the Parkwood Rec play area on Bicknor Road while supervising his one-year-old child. The park, situated just outside Holy 1 primary school, was immediately locked down by police.
Police, armed units, and dog squads swarmed the scene around 10pm on May 22. Kent, Sussex, and Surrey air ambulance teams landed on the park to provide urgent medical aid. The victim was airlifted to a London hospital with stab wounds.
The attacker is believed to be a local man. A 57-year-old suspect was arrested and is now in police custody, but officers have launched a wider manhunt for other possible suspects.
The victim’s family arrived soon after the stabbing and were spotted speaking with officers. Meanwhile, a large crime scene remains in place as police continue their investigations.
Kent Police confirmed they were called at 9.56pm Sunday after reports of an assault near Bicknor Road. They say a 57-year-old man was arrested in connection with the stabbing and remains in custody as enquiries continue.
