A 20-year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital after a fire erupted on the forecourt of a Texaco service station on Himley Road, Gornal Wood, at around 7pm.

Police quickly arrested two 30-year-old men on suspicion of attempted murder. Both men handed themselves in at separate West Midlands police stations.

On Saturday, June 11, detectives charged Stephen Burden, 30, from Moxley, Walsall, with attempted murder. He appeared at 1 Magistrates Court on Monday and was remanded in custody ahead of a Wolverhampton Crown Court hearing set for July 11.

The second suspect was questioned and then released on police bail with strict conditions as the investigation continues.
