An eight-year-old boy was left with serious leg injuries after a hit-and-run incident on Calderwood Street, Woolwich, on Monday, July 3.
Police and emergency crews responded quickly following reports of the crash. The Metropolitan Police were alerted at 2:15pm after a car struck the young pedestrian.
London’s Air Ambulance and the London Ambulance Service arrived promptly to treat the boy, who was then rushed to hospital. Although his injuries are severe, they are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
The driver responsible fled the scene without stopping, leaving the injured boy behind. The Metropolitan Police have launched an urgent investigation and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Road closures remain in place as officers continue their inquiries. Police have vowed to find the culprit and ensure justice is served, emphasizing that community safety—especially for young pedestrians—is their top priority.
