A woman’s body has been found in a lake close to Dartford’s Bluewater Shopping Centre. Police have confirmed that the family of missing Kent mum Taiwo Balogun has been informed.

The Bexley division of the Metropolitan Police tweeted, “A woman’s body was recovered from a lake near Bluewater Shopping Centre on Friday, December 30.” Formal identification is still pending, but it is believed to be Taiwo Balogun.

Police added, “Her death was unexpected but not suspicious. Our hearts go out to Taiwo’s family.”

Who Was Taiwo Balogun?

Taiwo Balogun, 53, from Bexley, south London, had been missing since December 1. She was last seen at about 2.27pm in a shop on Crayford Road, Dartford, near the junction with 1 Road. The Metropolitan Police described her as vulnerable and at risk of harming herself.

Her family expressed their concerns in a statement, saying: “We are very concerned about our mother. She is adored and a huge part of our lives.”

“All we want is for our mother to be safe and well at home with us. Could you please contact the police if you have seen her or know where she is? Any information could aid in her capture.”

What Was Taiwo Wearing?

She was last seen wearing a black jacket with vertical stripes down the arms, dark trousers, black and white trainers, and carrying an orange carrier bag. Taiwo stands 5ft 9ins tall.
