Tragedy occurred just before 7pm on Saturday, November 5, when a man died in the reception area of Stoke Newington police station. Following the incident, officers closed the station immediately.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the man, a white male in his 60s, was neither arrested nor detained. He had entered the station’s front office voluntarily.
A Met spokesperson said, “The circumstances are under investigation,” adding that the death is not being treated as suspicious.
Hackney Police issued a statement to inform the public that Stoke Newington police station remains closed for the time being. The nearest open alternatives are Islington and Edmonton police stations, both of which operate 24 hours.
