A shocking classroom scuffle from January 2023 at Bromley College has gone viral, amassing over 270,000 views on Twitter. The video shows a teacher and a student leaving the classroom before grappling and collapsing to the floor, with the teacher pinning the pupil down. As the confrontation continues, both get back to their feet, still locked in an argument. Voices off-camera can be heard urging them to “leave it” and warning, “don’t get sacked over it.”
The clip, which reportedly surfaced on Snapchat, carries the caption, “Teacher 1, student 0.” Following the incident, police were called and immediate action was taken. An internal investigation was conducted, which resulted in the student’s exclusion from the college.
A spokesperson for London South East Colleges, which includes Bromley Campus, stated: “This was not a fight. Our teachers are professionally trained to deal with these situations.” The spokesperson added, “The safety and safeguarding of all students is our priority. We do not accept violence.”
They further confirmed, “A thorough internal investigation was carried out, resulting in the student’s exclusion. The employee is receiving full support.”
Efforts have been made to contact the Metropolitan Police for further comment on the incident.
