At 7.30pm on Tuesday, armed police officers stormed the Marriott Hotel in Bexleyheath, a high-end hotel charging £140 a night, following reports of a firearm inside the premises.

A man was arrested from a guest room on suspicion of possessing a firearm. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that officers were called to the hotel on Broadway after receiving reports of a gun.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said, “Armed officers responded due to the nature of the incident. There were no reported injuries. There is no greater danger to the public.”

He added, “The investigation into the circumstances is still ongoing.”

The London Ambulance Service stated they were stood down as no casualties were reported at the scene.

The Marriott Bexleyheath declined to comment on the police action.
