A teenage boy was stabbed in Streatham High Road this Sunday afternoon, May 7, leading to the closure of nearby Thameslink stations and significant delays during the busy Bank Holiday period.
Train services at Streatham station were suspended from around 2:40pm as emergency crews rushed to the scene. Witnesses reported seeing an air ambulance land on Streatham Common, highlighting the seriousness of the incident.
“An air ambulance arrived on scene and landed in Streatham Common,” said witnesses. “We saw the team rushing to the location while trying to catch our train.”
Although services at Streatham station have now resumed, travellers should expect ongoing delays. Free London bus replacements are available from Mitcham to Central London, or passengers can use Southern trains from Sutton to London Bridge.
The stabbed teenager was taken to hospital with a stab wound to the stomach. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed, “The victim’s injuries are not life-threatening.” No arrests have been made so far, and inquiries remain ongoing.
