A man in his 50s was tragically killed in a collision on Harrow Road at approximately 3:05am this morning. The pedestrian was struck by a blue Mercedes C300, causing shock and sadness within the local community.
Emergency services, including officers from the Metropolitan Police and the London Ambulance Service, responded quickly to the scene. Despite their efforts, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the location.
The driver of the Mercedes, a man in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drugs. The vehicle came to a stop immediately after the collision.
Police have closed the road as they conduct a full investigation. Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
A police spokesperson said, “Road closures remain in place while we conduct a thorough examination of the scene. We are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact us on 101, quoting CAD 1453/10SEP23, or via Twitter @MetCC.”
The victim’s family has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers to assist them during this difficult time.
