PC Rachel Bright, a police officer serving with the South West Command Unit, is scheduled to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 10 October. She faces a charge of sexual assault connected to an alleged incident that took place while off duty in December 2022.
The alleged victim is reported to be someone personally known to PC Bright. The charge was formally issued through a postal requisition in mid-September following a thorough investigation by the police.
Given the serious nature of the allegations, PC Bright has been suspended from her police duties pending the outcome of the court proceedings.
The Metropolitan Police has urged anyone affected by sexual assault or with relevant information to come forward. Support services remain available to assist victims during this challenging time.
