A manhunt is underway in Arnold, Nottinghamshire, after a red Vauxhall Astra mounted the pavement and struck multiple pedestrians in the town centre at around 1am on May 9.
Emergency services rushed to the scene where the vehicle was abandoned. One man suffered life-threatening injuries and was treated by paramedics.
Nottinghamshire Police have identified a suspect, described as a white man, who fled the scene on foot following the incident. A major police cordon remains in place as officers conduct a thorough search of the area.
Suspect Flees Scene
Police confirmed the suspect ran away on foot after the collision. Authorities have maintained a large cordon in the town centre and are advising motorists to avoid the area while the search is ongoing.
Police Appeal For Information
Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow said, “There is no indication at this stage of any ongoing threat to the wider public. Officers are carrying out further inquiries and speaking with local residents.”
She also appealed to the public for any dashcam, CCTV, doorbell, or mobile phone footage related to the incident, urging anyone with information to contact Nottinghamshire Police immediately.

Local MP Michael Payne has been in close contact with police throughout the morning and expects the significant cordon to remain in place throughout the day. He urged residents not to speculate and reassured the community that he is working closely with officers to maintain safety in Arnold.
