A shocking explosion tore through a taxi outside Liverpool Women’s Hospital at 10:59am on Sunday, 14 November. Emergency services quickly responded to reports of a car explosion in the city centre.
Tragically, one person has died as a result of the blast. Another individual was taken to hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. The taxi had just arrived at the hospital moments before the explosion occurred.
Police have not ruled out any possibilities regarding the cause of the explosion. Counter-terrorism officers have joined Merseyside Police in leading the investigation. Emergency crews remain on site, with road closures and cordons still in place to secure the area.
Authorities have urged the public to stay calm but remain vigilant as the investigation continues.
