Armed police officers have descended on Fort Street, Sandown, Isle of Wight, following reports of a man spotted with a weapon. The incident has prompted a significant police response in the area.
Local Armed Response Vehicles (ARV) officers are working alongside mainland police units on the ground. Additionally, a helicopter from NPAS Bournemouth is providing aerial support to assist in the search for the armed individual.
A large police cordon has been established around Sandham House, a house of multiple occupancy (HMO) located on Fort Road and managed by Southern Housing. Residents in the vicinity have been advised to stay indoors while officers manage what has been described as a “fluid and fast-moving” situation.
Authorities have confirmed that a robbery was reported at Sandham House the previous evening, which has heightened concerns as the current incident unfolds.
