A dramatic rescue mission unfolded in Winchester after an 18-year-old teenager fell from a 30-foot bridge onto a live railway line. The incident occurred just past 1am on Tuesday, December 7, near Peter Symonds College.
Police, fire crews, the South Central Ambulance “HART” team, ambulance doctors, and Network Rail staff rushed to the scene to assist the injured teen. Due to the challenging location, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue’s specialist rope rescue and USAR teams were called in to reach the teenager safely.
For safety reasons, the power to the railway line was shut down, temporarily halting train services while emergency services worked swiftly to carry out the rescue.
