Police rushed to Westlake Avenue, Sandown, at 4.15am today following reports of a devastating fire that destroyed a house.
The property was empty at the time the flames engulfed it, leaving the house completely destroyed. Fortunately, no nearby homes were damaged and no injuries were reported.
Officers are treating the fire as suspicious and are working closely with the fire service to determine the cause of the blaze.
A police scene remains in place and will continue for some time while enquiries are ongoing.
Police are urging anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area around the time of the fire to come forward with information.
