Olivia Pratt-Korbel, a nine-year-old girl, was fatally shot in the chest at her home in Dovecot, Liverpool. The tragic shooting occurred during a violent incident when a gunman chased another man inside the house.
Thomas Cashman, aged 34, from West Derby, has been charged with the murder of Olivia Pratt-Korbel. He is scheduled to appear in court again next year as the legal process continues.
Merseyside Police have arrested a man on Friday who is suspected of assisting the offender. Additionally, Paul Russell, 40, also from West Derby, faces similar charges related to the case. Other individuals detained during the investigation have been released on police bail while inquiries are ongoing.
The family of Olivia Pratt-Korbel has been left devastated by the shooting. Olivia’s mother, Cheryl Korbel, aged 46, was injured during the violent incident on August 22. The gunman had been pursuing convicted burglar Joseph Nee into their home at the time of the shooting.
Olivia’s funeral was held on September 15 at St Margaret Mary’s Church, located just streets away from where the tragic event took place. The service drew a large crowd of people paying their respects to the young girl.
