Sussex Police have charged a man with the murder of 58-year-old Nelly Myers. Her body was discovered last Thursday at her home in Rotherfield.
Jayesh Gobar, 35, from Crawley, was charged with murder and appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court today. He is scheduled to appear again at Lewes Crown Court on Tuesday, 24 December.
Officers are conducting a detailed forensic examination at the £500,000 property on Court Meadow Close, Rotherfield. The investigation began on the evening of Wednesday, 18 December, after concerns for the woman’s welfare prompted police to attend the scene.
Detectives have appealed to the public for dash cam footage from Tuesday, 17 December 2019, to assist with their inquiry. A second man, aged 37 and also from Crawley, was arrested but has since been released without charge.
“A man has been charged with the murder of a woman in Rotherfield,” said a Sussex Police spokesman. “Jayesh Gobar appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court charged with murder and will next appear at Lewes Crown Court.”
