The Kent, Sussex and Surrey air ambulance touched down on the busy M2 highway near Bluebell Hill to treat injured victims after a car flipped and collided with the rear of a heavy goods vehicle (HGV).

Firefighters are urgently working to cut away the roof of the car in order to free those trapped inside the vehicle.

Traffic chaos has ensued as the road remains closed for rescue operations and a full investigation. Large queues have formed, with drivers stuck in the traffic jam being slowly allowed through as the wreckage is cleared from the scene.

Kent Police have been contacted regarding the incident but have yet to release an official statement. Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
