Christopher Coleman, 59, from Milford, has pleaded guilty to six sex crimes against the same victim. The charges include three counts of gross indecency, two counts of indecent assault, and one count of buggery. These offences began in 1998, more than a year after Coleman met the victim through an internet chatroom.
The victim came forward in February 2019 after seeing a local news article about Coleman’s 2013 conviction for similar offences. Coleman was originally sentenced to two life sentences with a minimum term of 15 years, which was later reduced to 12 years upon appeal.
“I want to thank Surrey Police for putting Coleman behind bars,” the victim told officers, revealing that they too had been abused by Coleman.
Following the victim’s report, Surrey Police launched a new investigation. Coleman was arrested in June 2019 on suspicion of multiple sexual offences related to this case. This disturbing pattern of abuse spans decades, with victims continuing to find the courage to come forward.
