Police have identified the woman found dead in a Gosport house fire as 27-year-old Kelly Case. Firefighters discovered Kelly at her home on Grange Crescent after the blaze broke out on Tuesday, 30 July. A murder investigation has now been launched.
Kelly’s family paid a heartbreaking tribute, describing her as “lively and vibrant” and saying they have lost their “best friend.” They added: “She was a daughter, mother, sister and auntie and we are thinking of her. Please respect our privacy at this difficult time.”
Four men are currently in custody over Kelly’s death. Two men were arrested this week: a 28-year-old from a location withheld and a 32-year-old from Gosport. Earlier, police arrested a 26-year-old man with no fixed address and a 28-year-old Gosport local. All four remain in custody on suspicion of murder.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Scrase has urged anyone with information to come forward. He said: “If you were in the Grange Crescent area early Tuesday morning and noticed anything suspicious, please get in touch.”
Witnesses can contact Hampshire Police on 101, quoting reference 44190267652, or reach out anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Officers will maintain a strong presence in Gosport as the investigation continues. Police have thanked the community for their patience during this time.
