Nottinghamshire Police are urgently hunting witnesses following a serious collision on David Lane that left a 31-year-old moped rider badly injured.

The crash occurred just after 1.30pm on 16 September, close to the tram line between the tram stop and New Generation Church. Police had noticed the red moped because it failed to stop. The rider was heading toward an alleyway near the tram stop when he fell off and sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to hospital for treatment.

What complicates the investigation is that the tram barriers were down and a tram was stopped at the time of the incident. Officers are keen to understand exactly how the collision happened under these conditions.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has dash-cam footage to come forward. They stress that any information could be crucial in piecing together the events that led to the collision. Witnesses are encouraged to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 391 of 16 September.

The case has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which is conducting an impartial investigation to establish the facts surrounding the incident.
