Graham Gomm’s freedom was short-lived after his daring escape from custody. The escaped convict was caught and returned to prison following a swift and effective police operation.
Gomm escaped on July 18 while receiving treatment at Hammersmith Hospital. Following his breakout, officers from the Metropolitan Police Service quickly collaborated with HM Prison Service to track him down.
The manhunt concluded in Putney at approximately 8:30am on July 20, when Gomm was arrested without incident and taken back into custody.
Authorities have launched an investigation into how Gomm managed to evade the hospital’s tight security measures. The circumstances surrounding his escape from lawful custody are being closely examined.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said, “We are relieved to have apprehended Graham Gomm and returned him to custody. This operation underscores the importance of coordinated efforts between law enforcement agencies to ensure public safety.”
An HM Prison Service representative added, “The safety and security of our facilities and the public are of utmost importance. We will continue working with our partners to understand how this incident occurred and prevent similar events in the future.”
