Early Morning Cell Fire at HMP Winchester Prompts Rapid Response from Emergency Crews

Firefighters dashed to Winchester Prison just after 1.50am on Sunday following reports of a fire in a cell.

Teams from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue—stationed in Winchester, Eastleigh, and St Mary’s—rushed to Romsey Road to tackle the blaze.

The fire reportedly broke out inside a cell located on the prison’s “B” Wing, causing immediate emergency response.

The Prison Service has been contacted for comment.
