A man in his 40s is fighting for his life after a large tree fell on him at a golf course in Southampton. Emergency services rushed to the scene to carry out a major rescue operation to free the trapped victim.
The incident took place at Dibden Golf Centre, where the man was crushed by the fallen tree. Firefighters, police officers, and paramedics responded quickly to assist. An Urban Search and Rescue adviser from Eastleigh Fire Station was also called in to help with the complex rescue effort.
Paramedics provided extensive treatment at the scene before transporting the man by ambulance to Southampton General Hospital. The rescue involved the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service, critical care teams, and an air ambulance.
A spokeswoman for South Central Ambulance confirmed that the man sustained potentially life-threatening injuries. Emergency teams praised their “excellent joint working,” which helped save valuable time during the rescue and medical treatment.
The incident occurred amid particularly strong gusts of wind across the Southampton area. Authorities are urging everyone travelling this afternoon and evening to exercise extra caution and stay safe.
