A terrifying fire tore through a house in King George Road, Andover, in the early hours, sending one person to hospital with smoke inhalation.

Firefighters from Andover, Dorset and Wiltshire, Sutton Scotney, Stockbridge, and Winchester rushed to the scene at 1:11am. The blaze engulfed the ground floor, first floor, and roof, with flames spreading slightly to a neighbouring property.

Crew members battled the fire using three jets, two hose reels, an Aerial Ladder Platform, and four sets of breathing apparatus. They also worked closely with agencies to cut off gas and electricity supplies to prevent further danger. The fire was declared under control at 7:15am.

One occupant was rushed to hospital by South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) for smoke inhalation. Residents of the neighbouring home received help from the British Red Cross. Police and fire services have launched a joint investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
