A tragic fire in Romsey resulted in the death of a 51-year-old woman in the early hours of Monday, February 4. Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to a house fire in Jacobs Close at 2:59am.
Three fire crews from Romsey, Redbridge, and Eastleigh arrived promptly to tackle the blaze, which was located in a first-floor bedroom of the two-storey property. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel and tactical ventilation to control the flames.
The fire was brought under control by 4:09am. Unfortunately, the South Central Ambulance Service confirmed that the woman had died at the scene. Additionally, a man was treated for smoke inhalation and taken to University Hospital Southampton for medical care.
Fire crews returned the following morning, February 5, after the fire unexpectedly reignited. They were able to extinguish the flames again and prevent further damage to the property.
