A family miraculously escaped serious injury after their silver Peugeot 709 people carrier flipped onto its side on the M27 near Southampton on Sunday evening. The rollover crash caused chaos on the busy motorway, but thankfully, no serious injuries were reported.
The accident occurred just after 4pm on the westbound carriageway near Junction 8 of the M27. The family was returning home after spending a sunny day at the beach when the incident happened. The crash led to major traffic delays, with lanes and the off-slip at Junction 8 closed for safety reasons.
Emergency services responded quickly to the scene. South Central Ambulance Service deployed three ambulances along with rapid response paramedics. Hampshire Roads Police and Hampshire Fire and Rescue also attended, working together to secure the area and assist the family involved.
The seven-seater vehicle came to rest on its side. Remarkably, the family managed to get themselves out of the vehicle before emergency medics arrived. They were subsequently taken to Southampton General Hospital for further medical checks.
This dramatic incident highlights the importance of remaining vigilant on motorways, especially during busy and sunny weekends.
