A severe crash involving a school coach and a bus on the A3290 slip road near Sutton Seeds Roundabout in Earley has left 18 people injured, including nine children. The collision occurred at approximately 8:25 AM during the busy morning rush hour.
The coach driver and nine schoolchildren sustained minor injuries. Additionally, eight adults travelling on the bus were hurt. Emergency crews from South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) arrived promptly, with reports indicating that one child and one adult may require hospital treatment.
Following the crash, a fire broke out involving both the wrecked vehicles and the bus engine. The Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) quickly extinguished the flames and assisted the injured individuals at the scene.
Thames Valley Police, SCAS, and RBFRS have advised motorists to avoid the area due to ongoing emergency response efforts and significant traffic disruption.
Adding to the morning’s incidents, SCAS also confirmed a minor two-car collision on the same slip road earlier today. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from that earlier crash.
