A man is fighting for his life after a shocking double stabbing incident in Basingstoke this afternoon.
Emergency services received multiple 999 calls at around 3.15pm reporting a serious assault involving an adult man and woman on St Peter’s Road. South Central Ambulance Service dispatched two rapid response vehicles, three ambulances, and the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance to the scene.
Police arrived shortly before 3.45pm and found both victims with stab wounds on St Peter’s Road. The road remains closed between Margaret Road and St Nicholas Court as officers maintain a strong presence while investigations continue.
The male victim was treated at the scene before being rushed by road to University Hospital Southampton’s major trauma centre, with the air ambulance team accompanying him. The female victim sustained minor hand and arm injuries and was taken to North Hampshire Hospital for further treatment.
A Hampshire Police spokesperson said: “A man and woman were found with stab wounds. The road remains cordoned off this evening with a police presence to continue for some time.”
A South Central Ambulance Service spokesperson added: “After initial treatment, the male patient was taken in critical condition with the air ambulance team travelling with him. The female patient had minor injuries and was taken to North Hampshire Hospital.”
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses as the local community reacts to this violent attack.
