Flames engulfed the 8th floor of a multi-storey car park adjacent to Rileys in Haydon Place, Guildford, leading to a swift response from firefighters from both Guildford and Woking.

Reports indicate that some individuals remain unaccounted for, prompting a desperate rescue operation by emergency services.

Surrey Fire and Rescue teams are actively battling the blaze using two hose reels and are equipped with four breathing apparatus sets to tackle the intense fire.

A spokesman confirmed that the fire is still ongoing and expressed concern as members of the public are reported missing.

Surrey Police have closed off part of the road near the scene to facilitate firefighting efforts, while the South East Coast Ambulance Service remains on site, prepared to assist any casualties.

Authorities have launched an arson investigation, with a Surrey Fire and Rescue spokesman stating, “The fire is believed to be deliberate. Police have launched an arson probe and are working closely with fire crews.”
