A serious assault in Kent has left a man fighting for his life in a London hospital. The victim, locally named Jamie, fell from a height onto a busy main road in the early hours of Sunday morning following the attack.
Borstal Street in Rochester remains closed as Scenes of Crime Officers (SOCO) in white suits comb the area for evidence. Friends of Jamie were seen speaking with CID detectives, confirming he has been transferred to a London hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Shaken staff at a nearby newsagent reported that CCTV footage captured paramedics arriving at the scene just after midnight. The man was treated on-site before being taken away with serious injuries.
A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called to Borstal Street, Rochester at 11.55pm on Saturday 5 November 2022 following a report a man had been assaulted. Officers attended alongside South East Coast Ambulance Service, and the victim was taken to a London hospital. A 31-year-old man was later arrested in connection with the incident and taken into custody. The road remains closed as enquiries continue.”
The investigation is ongoing, and the road closure is expected to remain while officers piece together what happened.
