Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal crash on the M2 early Sunday morning. At 6.14am on 27 November 2022, a red Nissan Qashqai collided with a red Mercedes-Benz C 200 AMG between junctions six and five on the London-bound carriageway.

Kent Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service responded promptly to the scene. Tragically, the female driver of the Nissan, who was in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink driving in connection with the collision.

The M2 was closed for several hours following the crash but has since reopened around 4pm. Police have informed the next of kin of the deceased woman.

Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is urgently seeking anyone who witnessed the crash or may have dashcam or CCTV footage. They are particularly keen to speak with the driver of a light-coloured van who may have seen the Mercedes-Benz just before the collision.

If you have any information, please contact the SCIU appeal line on 123 to assist with the ongoing investigation.
